Creative Arts class

Our primary emphasis is to give parents enjoyment and the opportunity to be involved in their child’s educational growth outside of the regular school-day.

Involving parents in their children’s learning we:

  • Engage parents through their children by getting children to bring their parents/carers grandparents to school for different events or activities.
  • Target parents to attend events
  • Provide study support sessions for children and meet and greet the parents
  • Organise workshops for parents and children to learn together
  • After school (animation workshops – Tuesday evenings)
  • During the school day (Little Bridge – Literacy programme) – Wednesday
  • Stay and Play sessions
  • Give families access to educational software (Mathletics)
  • Use Makewav.es/shirelands as mechanism to encourage and motivate children and showcase their achievements to families
  • Saturday mornings (fun activities)
  • Holiday activities are held for children and at each event one day is dedicated to Family Learning (Key priorities taken from the Ormiston Plan)
  • Arrange educational visits for families to engage with their children. i.e. Dudley Zoo, Safari park, Akamba Garden Centre, Weston-Super-mare – Workshops for the visits are organised through themes – and matched to KS2 Curriculum and our Community Curriculum
